Captain Walker Buried at Sea (1944)

This image from the Imperial War Museums’ collections shows, according to its catalogue description, Mrs Walker, the widow of Captain F J Walker CB, DSO, RN, ACE U-Boat Fighter, casting a wreath into the sea after the body of her husband had been committed to the deep. Captain Walker was buried at sea on 12 July 1944 on board the HMS Hesperus, in Liverpool Bay, at the entrance of the Mersey.
